Manchester City have reached the EFL Cup final after beating rivals Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford.
Goals from John Stones and Fernandinho were enough to secure their spring date at Wembley.
After their tedious 0-0 draw in the Premier League last month, United and City clearly agreed to put that result right in this thrilling affair.
The opening five minutes welcomed two goals â John Stones rebounding into his own net and Ilkay GĂŒndogan tapping home â only for both to be correctly ruled out for offside.
Kevin de Bruyne then smashed a wicket effort onto the post before Phil Foden broke through to score, however his celebrations were cut short again by the offside flag.
Despite City dominating possession, United still threatened on the break and Zak Steffen was called into action to push Bruno Fernandesâ curling effort wide.
The visitors eventually broke through after half time, when John Stones took advantage of some poor defending to bundle home from close range.
Raheem Sterling then saw his headed effort saved by Dean Henderson before Riyad Mahrez tested the goalkeeper again with a rasping 20-yard strike.
United pressed in search of an equaliser but struggled to create anything of note, with Fernandinho sealing victory in the 81st minute after volleying home from the edge of the box.
City now face Tottenham at Wembley on April 25.
