Manchester City will be allowed to play in European competitions from next season after they had their two-year suspension overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

City had been given the initial suspension by Uefa back in February, after they were found to have breached Financial Fair Play rules by over-inflating sponsorship deals.

The Etihad outfit then launched an appeal to CAS in Switzerland, with the Court finally reaching their verdict today which has seen the ban completely overturned.

In a statement, Man City said: “Whilst Manchester City and its legal advisors are yet to review the full ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the Club welcomes the implications of today’s ruling as a validation of the Club’s position and the body of evidence that it was able to present.

“The Club wishes to thank the panel members for their diligence and the due process that they administered.”

City will instead have their punishment reduced to a €10m fine for “failing to full cooperate with CAS’s investigation”.
