Erling Haaland continues to rewrite the record books for Man City, but the latest developments would suggest his future is away from the Premier League champions.

Against Sparta Prague on Wednesday evening he added another incredible finish to his repertoire of goals, with his brace meaning that he’s now scored an incredible 44 goals in 42 Champions League games.

Is Erling Haaland about to be sold by Man City?

It also saw the Norwegian having a hand in City breaking Man City’s long-held record in the premier European competition.

Barcelona haven’t been quiet in their admiration for the hit-man, however, Sky Sports Switzerland report that it’s actually their La Liga rivals, Real Madrid, that are tempting the striker.

Whilst the European giants have long coveted Haaland’s services, the reality was he was a Man City player and there was never any real likelihood he was going to leave.

However, the landscape looks to be changing irreverseably in that regard.

Sky Sports Switzerland have noted that the Premier League champions are already laying the foundations for his sale by targeting his replacement… and it’s bad news for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The outlet say that Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres is City’s first choice to replace Haaland, with Sports Mole being just one outlet to report on the Gunners long-term interest in the Swede.

Gyokeres has been on fire in front of goal over the last year or so, with 56 goals and 19 assists in the past two seasons (transfermarkt). A career total of 179 goals and 56 assists in 356 games is a more than decent return too.

It isn’t clear what price City will put on Haaland’s head if he were to move next summer, given that it’s understood he has a contract with the club until 2027, though it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were to demand a British record fee for a striker who has changed the game in England.
