Manchester City fullback Benjamin Mendy wishes fans were at the Etihad Stadium to witness his first goal for the club in the 5-0 win over Burnley.

The Frenchman opened his City account in some style, volleying in Kevin De Bruyne's wonderful cross at the far post to put Pep Guardiola's side three up before half-time.

After the 5-0 rout, Mendy said: “I feel so good.

“I would prefer it with all the fans in the stadium. I came from far for the goal, there was a lot of endurance.

"I feel happy and I hope more are going to come."

He added: “It was so important to be focused on the finishing because most of the games we had a lot of shots, but we don't score a lot.

“We know we have the quality to do that, like today. I think all the team is happy.

“In the second half we dropped a bit. The most important thing is a clean sheet and we scored a lot, so everybody is happy."
