Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has provided an insight into the wellbeing of defender Joško Gvardiol, on Saturday afternoon.

Stopper Gvardiol, for his part, set alarm bells ringing across City’s fanbase a short time ago.

As much came upon the Croatian being pulled from the club’s Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace at the interval.

Gvardiol was replaced by Manuel Akajni for the 2nd-half, giving immediate rise to concern surrounding a potential injury.

With Kyle Walker and Nathan Aké already sidelined through respective fitness issues, as much would mark a hammer blow, just three days out from City’s Champions League quarter-final first leg showdown with Real Madrid.

Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Gvardiol’s wellbeing was put to boss Pep Guardiola.

And the Spaniard went on to reveal that his defensive stalwart was dealing with ‘a little problem’, the extent of which is seemingly yet to be established:

“We will see which players we have available [against Real Madrid] because Josko (Gvardiol) had a little problem. We will see. Next one.”
