New City left-back Angeliño handled the ball in the box after a smart turn from Felipe Anderson and Mark Noble cooly converted from the spot.

Pre-season or not, Pep Guardiola’s side were not going to take that lying down.

The Premier League champions quickly struck back, when Bernabe picked out David Silva with a superb long pass. Silva made no mistake, bringing the ball down and converting from a tight angle.

And City went ahead before the break. Angelo Ogbonna clipped Lukas Nmecha in the box and the striker converted the penalty.

Things only got harder for West Ham after the break as Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sané came off the bench.

Sterling and Sané quickly combined, with the German international releasing Sterling to send City 3-1 up.

The England winger wasn’t done there and made it four with 20 minutes remaining, thanks to Kevin De Bruyne’s unselfish assist.
