Man City come from behind to seal top spot

Scorers: Sterling 63′, Jesus 76′.; Mbappé 50′.

Manchester City will finish top of Group A after coming from behind to beat Paris Saint-Germain.

City had dominated the first half, hitting the post through İlkay Gündoğan while Keylor Navas produced a strong save to deny Riyad Mahrez.

But the visitors took the lead against the run of play with Lionel Messi’s cross deflecting into the path of Kylian Mbappé, who fired through the legs of Ederson at the back post.

That lead lasted 13 minutes as Raheem Sterling levelled proceedings, being found by Kyle Walker’s cut back at the back post to poke home.

There was only going to be one winner from then on and Gabriel Jesus completed the turnaround when he scrambled home from eight yards out after Bernardo Silva’s deft touch laid it on a plate for the Brazilian.

Real ease to win to progress

Scorers: Alaba 30′, Kroos 45+1, Benzema 55′.

Real Madrid avoided another Sheriff scare by comfortably dispatching of the Moldovan side to book their place in the last-16.

David Alaba gave the visitors the lead after 30 minutes when his free-kick flew into the top corner before Toni Kroos’ curler crashed in off the crossbar in first half stoppage-time.

Karim Benzema put the game beyond doubt 10 minutes into the second half with composed finish from the edge of the box.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side host Inter in the final game to decide who finishes top of Group D.

Ten-man Dortmund knocked out

Scorers: Gonçalves 30′, 38′, Porro 80′; Malen 90+3′.

Borussia Dortmund have been knocked out of the Champions League after a disastrous night in Lisbon.

Pedro Gonçalves took advantage of some sloppy defending by Nico Schulz to poke home past Gregor Kobel after a long kick upfield to fire Sporting ahead before adding a second with an arrowed effort into the top corner from 25 yards out.

The visitors then had Emre Can sent off for violent conduct before their horrendous night was rounded off when Dan-Axel Zagadou gave away a penalty.

Gonçalves stepped up to complete his hat-trick but had his effort saved before Pedro Porro reacted first to head home on the rebound. Donyell Malen scored a late consolation for Marco Rose’s side.

It’s the first time Dortmund have failed to get out of the group stage since 2017/18. Sporting, meanwhile, reach the knockouts for just the second time.

Thiago scores stunner as Liverpool win

Scorers:  Alcântara 52′, Salah 70′.

Porto’s hopes of qualifying for the last-16 will go on until the last matchday after they suffered defeat against Liverpool.

Liverpool took the lead at the start of the second through a stunning strike by Thiago Alcântara, who caught a half-volley perfectly from 30 yards out to rifle the ball into the bottom corner after a free-kick had been cleared.

Mohamed Salah then scored his 14th Champions League goal at Anfield with a finish into the bottom right hand-corner after waltzing through the Porto defence to round off the three points.

Milan live to fight another day

Scorers: Messias 87′.

Milan picked up their first win of the group stage this season to keep their hopes of progression to the knockout rounds alive.

Junior Messias headed home from Franck Kessié’s cross three minutes from time to stun Atlético and move them above Diego Simeone’s side going into the last day.

Club Brugge v RB Leipzig

Scorers: Nkunku 12′, 90+3, Forsberg (PEN) 17′, 45+1, Silva 27′.

RB Leipzig have Europa League qualification in their own hands after hammering Club Brugge.

Christopher Nkunku has continued his brilliant goalscoring start to the season to give Leipzig the lead, being on hand to react to the rebound of André Silva’s shot to tap into the empty net.

Emil Forsberg then doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Brian Brobbey had been fouled. Silva added a third after just 27 minutes with a looping header from Angeliño’s cross.

Forsberg then rounded off the perfect first half with a drilled low finish from the edge of the area to make it four before Nkunku grabbed another in stoppage time.

Super-sub Haller propels Ajax to victory

Scorers: Ghezzal 22′ (P); Haller 54′, 69′

It was top against bottom in Group C as Beşiktaş welcomed group leaders Ajax to Vodafone Arena.

The opening first half was a wide-open match with both sides having a flurry of attempts for the opener.

VAR eventually called a handball against Ajax allowing Rachid Ghezzal to make things 1-0 from the penalty spot. Beşiktaş then almost doubled things before the break but André Onana denied Cyle Larin.

Ajax were pushing for an equaliser yet the likes of Dušan Tadić, David Neres and, Steven Berghuis couldn’t find the net.

Instead, the hero was Sébastien Haller who came off the bench to score twice and turn things around 2-1 helping Ajax win the group in the process.

He now has nine goals in his first five Champions League games – the first player in competition history to do so.

Džeko the hero for Inter against Shakhtar

Scorers: Džeko 61′, 67′

Over at the San Siro, Inter faced Shakhtar Donetsk with their eyes set on all three points in hopes of qualifying for the knockouts.

As such, the hosts came out flying with a handful of attempts to find the opener but were left frustrated in the first half thanks to strong defending from Shakhtar.

Inter had 15 shots during the opening 45 minutes but things stood 0-0 at the break.

Yet fortunately for the hosts, Edin Džeko found his scoring touch in the second half netting a six-minute brace to help seal a 2-0 win.

Additionally, with Real Madrid beating Sheriff, Inter have now qualified for the round of 16.
