Manchester City and Arsenal already had injury problems heading into Sundayâs huge table-topping clash at the Etihad.
City captain Kyle Walker was ruled out of the game entirely, with John Stones only fit enough to start on the bench.
And the champions were dealt another blow when Nathan Aké limped off with what looked like a calf issue midway through the first half.
The Dutchman was replaced by 19-year-old Rico Lewis, who actually played against Arsenal in the Premier League earlier this season.
Arsenal suffered a blow of their own later in the game, when Bukayo Saka had to go off with what looked like a recurrence of the injury he sustained while on international duty with England.
Saka was replaced by Gabriel Martinelli, who scored the winner against City when the sides met earlier this season, but was only fit enough for the bench this time.
