The Belgium international has again been outstanding for City this season, winning the Carabao Cup and leading them to the Champions League final. City could also be confirmed as Premier League champions this week if results go their way.

However, despite dominating performance statistics this season, De Bruyne says he sees no special significance from the achievement. The midfielder insisting he's far happier winning praise from people known for having a good knowledge and eye for football and talent.

"I think that for me personally, the statistics are a bit too much. Especially for a midfielder where you do a lot of good things that are not reflected by the statistics," he said via Bold, quoted by Sky Sports.

"I know many people use them to compare people, but I do not care. However, they are a part of life now.

"It was completely different 10-15 years ago, where everything was based on what you saw with your eye and everyone used the eye test and that was it."

So far this season, De Bruyne has played 38 games for City, scoring nine goals and producing an impressive 17 assists.

The midfielder penned new terms with City earlier this year after marathon negotiations. He is now tied to the Sky Blues until 2025.
