Manchester City have heaped more pressure on Arsenal‘s shoulders by defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad.

It was imperative Pep Guardiola’s side picked up a victory ahead of the Gunners’ crucial match at home to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

In truth, it was a hugely one sided affair between City and Wolves, the former dominating play from the first whistle to the last.

And for the umpteenth time this season, Erling Braut Haaland was the star of the show for the men in sky blue.

The Norwegian colossus scored his fourth Premier League hat-trick of the season to move onto 25 goals for the campaign.

It’s taken Haaland just 19 games to bag four trebles in the English top-flight. For context, the second-quickest in that regard is Ruud van Nistelrooy, who achieved it in 65 games.

Yeah, he’s pretty good, isn’t he?

Haaland’s first of the day came just before the half-time break and it was the ever-dependable Kevin De Bruyne who was the provider.

The Belgian’s pinpoint cross was emphatically headed home by his free-scoring teammate.

Haaland then put City 2-0 up shortly after the interval, this time converting from the penalty spot after a foul on Ilkay Gundogan by Ruben Neves.

Jose Sa didn’t stand a chance.

Haaland didn’t take long to bag his hat-trick either. His third of the day came four minutes later, Riyad Mahrez teeing up his colleague for a tap-in following some suspect Wolves defending.

Those who were trying to argue that Haaland’s presence makes City a slightly worse unit overall now look rather foolish, don’t they?

The 22-year-old’s current Premier League goal tally of 25 is two more than last season’s Golden Boot winners, Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son, achieved overall.

And City still have 18 games left to play. Madness, absolute madness.

A few minutes after rippling the back of the net for a third time, Haaland was given a well-earned rest by Guardiola.

Julian Alvarez came on as his replacement, with Haaland leaving the Etihad pitch to a standing ovation.
