It follows their Conference League victory in May, having also booked a return to Champions League football last season by finishing fourth.

“It’s a bit different than last season for sure,” Gusto said.

“I think in terms of details and in terms of the way we play. It’s more about tactics. It’s much more about tactics, I would say.

“He’s a top coach. I think that’s why we are in the final. It’s because of him.

“Even in the Champions League for the next season, we finished top four. Last season in the Premier League, it’s because he created a good team. A good energy between us. So, yes, we are very happy to have this coach.”

The Frenchman also says his team are feeling confident going into the game against PSG, who thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-final of the competition.

“We are not worried,” he said. “As I said before, it will be a good test for us. We are Chelsea. If we are here, it’s because we deserve it. So now the most important thing is to show that we can compete against this type of team. And that’s what we’ll try to do tomorrow.”

Gusto also admits it has been difficult to play in the competition, not only because of the quality of opposition but because of the conditions in the USA too.

“First of all, it was not easy to be honest,” he said.

“Because all the games were tough. Even about the condition. We know the pitch is very tough. The weather as well. This is for every team.

“So now we get to the final, I think it’s because we deserve it. Now the most important thing for the team, for the players, for the club, is to show that we deserve to play this final, to win this trophy. And we will be ready for tomorrow.”
