Mallory Swanson suffers serious injury months before World Cup

The United States Women’s National Team will anxiously await test results on star player Mallory Swanson.

The Americans face Ireland on Saturday in preparation for this summer’s World Cup, and scary scenes saw the player pick up what appears to be a serious injury.

Swanson left the pitch on a stretcher with her left leg stabilized after she went down, grabbing her knee in tears.

Team-mates Alex Morgan, Rose Lavelle and Lindsey Horan all attempted to comfort the player.

The Athletic is now reporting Swanson is currently en route to the hospital.

The USA begin their title defence in roughly three months.
