RCD Mallorca head coach Jagoba Arrasate has spoken out on the situation between the posts in his squad.

This comes amid a push on the part of Leo Román to take over no.1 duties in the Bermellones’ ranks.

Román for his part took his place front and centre in the headlines across Spain last weekend, owing to a frankly remarkable performance against La Liga table-toppers Barcelona.

En route to an eventual 1-0 defeat for Mallorca, the 24-year-old racked up 12 saves, turning the heads of fans and clubs alike throughout Spain.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s upcoming meeting with Girona, the possibility of Román maintaining his place between the posts over the final weeks of the campaign was therefore put to Jagoba Arrasate.

Dominik Greif has acted as the first-choice goalkeeper at Son Moix across the season to date.

And Arrasate was adamant that this will remain the case moving forward:

“Greif will play. When the season is over, all the individual situations will be assessed. Now the team comes first. Leo had a great performance against Barcelona; Greif had two clean sheets, and ‘Pichu’ is also putting pressure on from behind. Now what we have are solutions, and in the summer we’ll see each player’s situation. There are only three weeks left in La Liga, and the focus has to be on the group we’re in.”
