Malik Tillman is expected to undergo his Bayer Leverkusen medical towards the end of the week, according to a report by Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The American’s medical will take place in the US following his participation at the 2025 Gold Cup where Tillman featured in the losing side against Mexico in the final. Tillman will join Bayer Leverkusen as one of two players to replace the departed Florian Wirtz, with die Werkself having signed Ibrahim Maza for €12m from Hertha Berlin in May.
Tillman will sign a long term contract at Bayer Leverkusen until 2030 after the Bundesliga runners-up activated the player’s €35m exit clause. The 23-year-old, who was born in Germany but holds American citizenship, scored 12 goals and provided two assists as Peter Bosz’ PSV pipped Ajax to the Eredivisie title.
Bayer Leverkusen have been active in the transfer window after Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong left the club for Liverpool. In addition to Tillman and Maza, Simon Rolfes and Fernando Carro have secured deals for Jarell Quansah, Mark Flekken, Abdoulaye Faye, Tim Oermann and Axel Tape.
