Daniel Maldini has been one of the standout players in Serie A since joining Monza on loan in the January transfer window. Naturally, AC Milan have been keeping a close eye on him and the player has stated that a return is on his mind.

Maldini didn’t have a good first half of the season, struggling to get playing time at Empoli and the loan was thus cut short. An agreement was reached with Monza and after six appearances, he has three goals as well as one assist.

The latest goal was a cracking free-kick from quite a long way out and his success hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Milan fans. Interviewed for this week’s edition of SportWeek (see photo below), Maldini revealed a desire to return to the Rossoneri.

“Returning to Milan is always an option and a desire, but Monza are giving me a lot. If I were to return to Milan, I would return with the aim of playing, certainly not to sit on the bench.

“If I have spoken to Ibrahimovic? No, I haven’t heard from Ibra. I speak and sometimes hang out with Leao, Giroud, Calabria and Florenzi,” he stated.

It remains to be seen what will happen in the summer, with rumours suggesting that Milan could accept an offer of around €5m. Maldini’s contract will also expire in 2025 so if he were to remain, then the Rossoneri would have to renew his deal.
