Manchester City supporters are bracing themselves for the visit of Arsenal without club captain Kyle Walker, following a new report on the fitness of the Englishman.

The England international defender, who started the weekend’s friendly meeting with Brazil as the captain of Gareth Southgate’s side, saw his outing cut short through a hamstring problem sustained while successful preventing an opening goal for the South American visitors.

Despite the veteran’s best attempts to run off the problem and continue for the Three Lions, Walker was ultimately forced out of action and replaced by Joe Gomez in an eventual 0-1 defeat at Wembley Stadium.

Concerns very quickly switched towards Manchester City’s next Premier League clash against Arsenal, and while there had been initial optimism over Walker’s chances of featuring this weekend, those hopes have since faded following a new report.

According to the information of MailSport’s Jack Gaughan and Sami Mokbel, Manchester City’s club captain Kyle Walker is now a ‘serious doubt’ for Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of their Premier League title showdown with Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

Walker is among several fitness concerns for Manchester City’s coaching staff as they begin preparations for the visit of Mikel Arteta’s title-chasing side after a challenging international break on an injury front.

The 33-year-old is joined by Manuel Akanji and John Stones in being regarded as a ‘doubt’ for the return of domestic football, while Pep Guardiola is likely to offer an update on the entirety of his squad when he faces the media on Friday afternoon.

Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish could provide much-needed positivity however, as the duo have been continuing their work towards full fitness at the City Football Academy during the pause for international friendlies this week.
