Chelsea admire Bayer Leverkusen’s left sided defender Piero Hincapie as they weigh up whether to sign a replacement for Levi Colwill according to reports.

The Blues were rocked earlier this week after it was confirmed Colwill had suffered an ACL injury and will miss the majority of the season.

It’s a huge blow given how important Colwill is to the team, and Chelsea now face a difficult decision with not long left in the transfer market.

Chelsea admire Piero Hincapie

Enzo Maresca stated after Friday’s win against Bayer Leverkusen he wanted a new centre back, but it will be interesting to see what the club do.

Trevoh Chalobah and Josh Acheampong started against the Bundesliga outfit, whilst Tosin Adarabioyo played the second half in place of Chalobah.

The Blues also have Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, but there are major questions marks over whether the pair can stay fit for a sustained period of time.

Renato Veiga won’t be reintegrated and the plan remains to sell the Portugal international this summer, with a number of clubs reportedly keen.

Chelsea have had previous interest in Marc Guehi, but Mail Sport have reported the Blues admire Leverkusen’s left sided defender Hincapie.

The Blues have been previously linked with Hincapie, who started at Stamford Bridge on Friday night, with the 23-year-old still under contract until 2029.

No fresh approach made for Marc Guehi

If Chelsea are to go into the market Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi would appear to be the most obvious solution.

The 25-year-old came through the ranks at Chelsea, and is into the final 12 months of his deal at Selhurst Park, and appears to have no intentions of extending his stay.

The Blues considered a move for Guehi in January, before opting to recall Chalobah, and there’s also said to be interest from Liverpool.

Chelsea reportedly haven’t made a fresh approach for Guehi, and are instead focused on other targets at this stage of the window.
