Sonia Bompastor has revealed that Eugénie Le Sommer (34) will be a serious doubt for Olympique Lyonnais’s Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain (on the 20th and 28th of April) after the French forward picked up an injury during the international break.

Le Sommer received a heavy hit on the knee when she collided with Jonna Andersson (31) in France’s 1-0 victory over Sweden on the 9th of April. The forward was unable to continue with the game and according to Bompastor will now receive surgery on the impacted knee.

The news was no better for Le Sommer’s international and club teammate Delphine Cascarino (27) who likewise was forced off early due to an injury in the Sweden game, with Bompastor informing that Cascarino had suffered a pelvic injury and will be unavailable for the derby against AS Saint-Étienne on Sunday.

Like Le Sommer, question marks also surround Cascarino’s involvement in the Champions League semi-final with neither injury coming at an ideal time for a Lyon side hungry to defeat Les Parisiens and secure a shot at winning a historic 9th title.
