Lyon have landed their first signing of the summer in the form on Sochaux midfielder Skelly Alvero (21), according to a report today from L’Équipe. The 21-year-old is undergoing his medical with Les Gones this Tuesday morning.
The club have reportedly signed Alvero for a €6m transfer fee including bonuses. The young midfielder will put pen to paper on a 5-year deal with the Ligue 1 outfit. Alvero, a Red Star youth product, began his senior career at Sochaux and quickly rose to prominence with Les Lionceaux.
Alvero is able to play as a defensive midfielder or as a box-to-box operator. The Franco-Angolese player was elected Ligue 2’s best breakout player last March. His height – Alvero is 6’8″ – will be an asset for Laurent Blanc, as the latter often lamented the lack of physicality in Lyon’s midfield.
He played 31 Ligue 2 games with Sochaux. The Doubs side have been handed an administrative relegation to the third-tier National 1 by the DNCG – French football’s financial watchdog – due to a serious financial deficit.
