Lyon to allow Anthony Lopes to leave for free

According to L’Équipe, Olympique Lyonnais will allow goalkeeper Anthony Lopes (33) to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Lopes came through the ranks at Lyon and has spent his entire career at the French club. The Portugal international has gone on to make 482 appearances for Les Gones, but it is expected that this season will be his last. In January, OL brought Lucas Perri (26) to the club. He was signed as a successor for Lopes, whose current contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Whilst Lopes retains – for now – the No.1 jersey, this will not be the case next season, with that succession plan set to be put in motion. The player’s entourage is now looking for a new destination for Lopes, who is garnering interest, according to L’Équipe. Given all he has done for the club, Lyon will not ask for a fee and will instead free him from the final year of his contract.
