The Olympique Lyonnais supporters group Bad Gones has criticised the club for their treatment of long-standing goalkeeper Anthony Lopes (33).

Lopes has not played for Lyon this season, the Portuguese international lost his place to Brazilian Lucas Perri (26) over the summer, while the arrival of Rémy Descamps (28) signalled that Lopes would not have a role even as the backup keeper.

Lyon had tried to sell Lopes before the start of the season and had waived the demand for a transfer fee to help the goalkeeper find a new club, partly because he was entering the final year of his contract and also because of his long years of service for Les Gones having been at the club since he was a child.

However, Lopes struggled to find a team that could meet his demands, and with the window now over, the goalkeeper will spend at least the next three months in the reserves. This has not sat well with, Bad Gones who produced a banner during the Choq des Olympiques stating “A Gone here since he was 8 deserves better treatment. Strength to you Antho.” A message that Lopes received warmly thanking the fans on his Instagram story.
