As reported by L’Équipe, Lyon manager Peter Bosz has admitted that the club are still looking for a ‘number 6’ midfielder. Even with the signing of Caen youngster Johann Lepenant, the Dutch boss revealed that an extra signing is needed in order to play in the 4-3-3 formation with two central midfielders. Bosz said the following on the need for an extra midfielder:

“If we want to continue to play in a 4-3-3 with only one 6, then yes we are looking for a sentinel,” conceded the Dutchman. We have players in the squad to play with two 6s, but to play with one 6, we only have Johann (Lepenant). We have to have a second player in that position if we want to continue to play like that. Corentin (Tolisso) is not there for that position, he will play higher up.”

Bosz spoke after Lyon’s 3-0 defeat to Belgian side Anderlecht in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, where Lyon’s midfield suffered two important injuries: Maence Caqueret (ankle sprain) and Corentin Tolisso (left calf muscle fatigue) will be left out of the next pre-season match at the end of a training camp in the Netherlands next week.
