According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Olympique Lyonnais are set to win the race to sign Alejandro Gomes Rodríguez (16).
Lyon have one of the most renowned academies in France and are now hoping to add a promising England youth international to the mix. Romano understands that Gomes Rodríguez, whose contract at newly promoted Premier League side Southampton is set to expire, has agreed to join Les Gones.
The centre-forward had offers from other clubs in England, as well as from Italy, however, he has chosen to continue his development at OL, where he would integrate the French club’s prestigious youth set-up. Gomes Rodríguez, who is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Saints, has been prolific for England at youth level, notably netting five goals in five appearances for the U16 side.
However, his international allegiance remains open. The soon-to-be Lyon player has also featured for the Venezuela U17 side, as well as the Portugal U15 side.
