Given the sheer size of his squad, Pierre Sage is forced into making difficult decisions every week, and first-teamers are always guaranteed to miss out on the matchday squad. As Olympique Lyonnais prepare to face AS Saint-Étienne in the Rhonealpin derby, it is Said Benrahma’s turn to miss out.

Benrahma, as well as Gift Orban, are both absent from the matchday squad as Lyon look to extend their unbeaten run to six games in Ligue 1. Both started during the mid-week draw against Hoffenheim in the UEFA Europa League. Sage’s will look drastically different against Saint-Étienne on Sunday night. It is even possible that Sage will make 11 changes to that side.

Up front, Alexandre Lacazette will start with Malick Fofana and Rayan Cherki on either side of him. Georges Mikautadze, Wilfried Zaha, and Ernest Nuamah will all have to settle for spots on the bench.
