There is a good chance that Boubakary Soumaré (25) won’t be a Leicester City player come the closure of the transfer window. The Frenchman is highly coveted by AS Monaco, but as Sacha Tavolieri reveals, they aren’t the only interested party.
Monaco, after selling Youssouf Fofana, Mohamed Camara, and Félix Lemarechal this summer, are in the market for another midfielder before the closure of the window, despite the signature of Lamine Camara. The Principality club have therefore reignited their interest in Leicester City’s Soumaré, a player they have been tracking for multiple windows.
However, if the former Lille OSC midfielder is to arrive at the Stade Louis II, Monaco may have to fend off interest from rival clubs, notably Olympique Lyonnais. Tavolieri understands that Turkish side Fenerbahçe are also considering a move. For now, however, it is Les Monégasques who are leading the race with Soumaré reportedly “flattered” by the Ligue 1 club’s interest.
