According to Le Progrès, Lyon head coach Pierre Sage will begin ‘accelerated’ training to gain his coaching badges. The former Red Star technical coach currently does not have the required coaching qualifications to allow him to manage a team in the top flight of France.

In a similar fashion to Reims coach Will Still, who rose to prominence for not having the required correct coaching qualifications, Lyon have to pay a fine for each match that Sage takes charge of. As Sage begins to take necessary steps to allow him to manage in Ligue 1 without punishment, signs begin to point towards the 44-year-old coach extending his stay at the Groupama Stadium. The Lyon head coach’s current contract expires at the end of the season.
