Lyon have reportedly failed to cancel the €8m signing of Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner (31), according to L’Equipe. The Ligue 1 side had previously agreed a deal to sign the USMNT goalkeeper for a €8m transfer fee before their administrative relegation to Ligue 2 following an unsuccessful meeting with the DNCG.

John Textor had sanctioned the deal to sign Turner, but the American businessman is no longer in charge of Les Gones, who no longer want to recruit the 31-year-old after a transfer restriction was put in place and the club presented reduced budgets to avoid a Ligue 2 relegation. A lawyer has been tasked by the Rhône club to negotiate with Nottingham Forest to try and negotiate an agreement where Turner would stay at the City Ground.

Unfortunately for Lyon, their attempt to cancel the deal has been deemed unlawful and also ignored by NFFC owner Evangelos Marinakis. However, Turner won’t play for Lyon. The club’s owners have reached an agreement for the USMNT goalkeeper to join New England Revolution on loan. The MLS franchise will cover Turner’s wages.
