Lyon have officially announced that they are looking to ‘keep Moussa Dembele’ beyond the end of this month, despite reported interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Premier League duo have both been linked with the 23-year-old forward in recent weeks, with both believed to be keen on bolstering their attacking options in this months transfer market.
Chelsea boss Lampard has already expressed his desire to replace some of the goals that were lost with the departure of Eden Hazard in the summer, while Manchester United are also said to be in the market for a new forward, the Old Trafford outfit having failed to land Borussia Dortmund bound Erling Haaland.
Reports have suggested that both clubs could make a move for former Celtic striker Dembele after he netted 10 goals in 16 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon this season, though the French side have released a statement to outline their intentions to keep the forward at the Groupama Arena.
“Olympique Lyonnais has taken note of certain information relayed by the media suggesting that Moussa Dembélé could interest other clubs during this transfer window,” the statement reads.
“OL would like to reaffirm its wish, as in the summer of 2019, to keep Moussa Dembélé.
“The club has full confidence in Moussa and counts in particular on him to build a successful team for the seasons to come.”
