Lyon have their hands back on the trophy, which they have now won eight times in the last dozen seasons.

Amandine won possession for Lyon and fired them ahead from 30 yards out in only the sixth minute.

Barcelona’s Jenny Hermoso forced a good save from Christiane Endler but Lyon did suffer a setback with Ellie Carpenter being stretchered off.

Midway through the half the lead was doubled, Selma Bacha’s cross headed in at the far post by Ada Hegerberg.

It was 3-0 in 33 minutes, Barca failing to clear and Hegerberg setting up Catarina Macario for a tap-in.

Sandra Paños made a good save to deny Hegerberg, before Alexia Putellas got a goal back from Caroline Graham Hansen’s low cross.

Patricia Guijarro tried to chip Endler from the centre circle and beat the back-peddling keeper but hit the crossbar.

Ana-Maria Crnogorčević came off the bench for Barca and put a clear chance wide of the far post, while at the other end Paños saved a superb stoppage-time volley from Hegerberg.
