Luuk de Jong will continue his career at FC Porto. The 34-year-old former PSV captain joins Francesco Farioli’s club on a free transfer.
De Jong’s future remained unclear for a long time. The towering veteran striker’s contract with PSV expired this summer, and he subsequently had to consider his future. In anticipation of a possible transfer, De Jong trained individually at De Herdgang.
Voetbal International write:
“PSV could no longer wait for the club icon to make a decision and brought in Alassane Pléa, a rival for Ricardo Pepi. De Jong’s name was buzzing around Seville this weekend, and the attacker is indeed returning to the Iberian Peninsula, but this time in Portugal.”
At Porto, De Jong will work alongside Farioli, who was in charge of Ajax last season. The man with 39 Oranje international appearances has signed a one-year contract with O Dragões.
