PSV Eindhoven striker Luuk de Jong is now the Eredivisie’s top goal scorer of the century. The 33-year-old striker scored a brace on Wednesday night against Go Ahead Eagles, which meant he overtook Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as the 21st century’s top scorer.
De Jong has now scored 155 goals in 278 Eredivisie matches. The former Barcelona, Sevilla, Newcastle United and Twente forward currently sits ahead of Huntelaar (154), Dirk Kuyt (134) and Dušan Tadić (119) in the rankings. De Jong won’t have to worry about being overthrown anytime soon, as the four players behind him in the rankings are now inactive in the Dutch top flight.
Luuk de Jong scored a brilliant brace against Go Ahead Eagles on Wednesday night. Both goals were headers and both goals were set up by PSV right-back Jordan Teze. Guus Til scored the other goal in their 3-0 win. The victory took PSV to the top of the table, with Peter Bosz’s side winning all six of their games so far this season. There will certainly be many more goals for Luuk de Jong this season.
