Luton Town could be eyeing another incoming addition today, with Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope reporting that the Hatters remain eager to try and bring in Elliot Anderson from Newcastle.
The player has struggled to get many minutes at all with his current side, making just one league appearance for the Toon in his entire career to date. Instead, he has had to make do with featuring for just their academy team.
For the reserve team though, the midfielder has impressed. With five goals in seven appearances this season – despite not featuring as a forward – he has been one of the brightest talents in the team and he is now drawing interest from elsewhere ahead of the transfer deadline.

With Anderson unable to get any more minutes at Newcastle, a deal away on a short-term basis could suit both the player and the club that brings him in. Luton are believed to be one of the sides eyeing up a move on loan but the bad news for Hatters fans is that it looks like a player will have to make way before the midfielder can be brought in.
However, if they can indeed shift someone out of the exit door, then a deal for the 19-year-old could be on. They’ll face competition too from Fleetwood and Northampton with both EFL sides also eager to try and snap him up on a short-term basis but the lure of potential regular Championship football could swing it in Luton’s favour.
It means that there certainly could be a busy few hours ahead for the Hatters.
The Verdict
Elliot Anderson deserves a chance to try his luck not only in competitive football but also to get on the field more and to get regular action.
Luton would provide him with the perfect chance to do that. The Hatters are a solid Championship outfit and will harbour some play-off aspirations perhaps in the second half of this campaign and Anderson could certainly help them out with their goals.
Joining a side like Luton, where he could get regular minutes at a fairly high level, could work wonders for his development, helping Newcastle and also aiding the Hatters in their own bid for potential promotion. It could be a win-win situation for all sides of the deal then.
They’ll have to get rid of someone first as this report says but there is plenty of time for Nathan Jones to do that and as soon as they have, they could try and swoop for Anderson – and it would be a great move by the club.
