Bristol City and Swansea City have both made offers to sign Luton Town striker Harry Cornick but the Hatters are reluctant to let him leave, according to Football Insider.

Bristol City are in the market for a new striker, as it looks as though Antoine Semenyo is set to join Premier League side AFC Bournemouth.

While Swansea are also set to lose an attacker as Michael Obafemi closes in on a move to Championship leaders Burnley.

Now, according to Football Insider, both Championship clubs have made a move to sign Luton’s Cornick.

The 27-year-old is in the final six months of his contract at the Hatters, and this transfer window may be the club’s last chance of getting any money for the player.

However, this report adds that Luton are reluctant to sanction any move for Cornick as they want to keep their squad as it is as they continue to push for a play off place.

Since being appointed Luton manager, Rob Edwards has continued to use Cornick as an important member of his Luton side. However, the attacker has only completed 90 minutes on one occasion this season.

The 27-year-old showed his worth to the Hatters last time out, as he grabbed a goal and provided an assist in their win over Wigan Athletic.

Cornick has made 19 appearances in the Championship this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

This is Cornick’s sixth season at Luton, having joined from Bournemouth in 2017 for an undisclosed fee.

The Verdict

Luton’s stance looks like a potential obstacle in the Championship pair’s pursuit of the forward.

Cornick was a player who really shone at Luton under Nathan Jones, but since Edwards arrived as their new manager, the 27-year-old has really struggled.

Over the years in the Championship, Cornick has managed to show that he is capable at this level, and he is the type of player that works hard for the team.

The one concern would be that Cornick isn’t a prolific striker, and if these clubs are looking at him to be the main goalscorer, then that might be a struggle. However, the 27-year-old is good at being a striker who can play in a partnership and play off the main man.
