Luke Amos pens emotional message after returning to first-team action during QPR v Everton | OneFootball

Luke Amos returned to first-team action for QPR during their triumph over Everton on penalties on Tuesday evening.

The 24-year-old, who came on for the last 27 minutes against The Toffees, also scored his penalty with a confident strike from 12 yards.

Amos ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament back in October last year, spending 11 months on the sidelines, after what was an impressive start to the 2020/21 campaign.

Appearing on the bench during QPR’s 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth earlier in the month, Amos received his first minutes on the pitch since suffering the horrific injury.

Taking to Instagram to share his delight of returning to first-team action, Amos said: “Feeling super blessed to be able to step back onto the pitch after months of hard work. I can’t thank everyone enough for their incredible support during a difficult period for me in particular my family, friends and the medical team.

“Thank you God for healing and giving me the strength to fight this battle once again.

“The hard work continues❤️😀.”

The verdict

Amos returning is brilliant news for QPR fans. He was proving to be an integral part of the side during the early stages of last season, and he certainly has the ability to reach those levels again.

Mark Warburton will be equally as glad to see Amos back. The only complication that it arises is how he sets up his team, and subsequently, it will now become more difficult for him in terms of team selection.

Not only does Amos have to adapt to the Championship again after such a long time sidelined, but he also has to rise to the challenge of QPR emerging as a promotion-pushing club this season.

Amos’ technical ability, coupled with his tenacity and intelligence, makes him an exciting option for The R’s to have back in the side.
