An insight into the stance of Real Madrid star Luka Modrić when it comes to his future with the club has today been forthcoming online.

And the info will no doubt be met with widespread approval on the part of those of a Real persuasion.

This comes amid confirmation that the Croatian hopes to continue his iconic stint in Spain’s capital into next season.

Modrić’s future as things stand is of course up in the air, ahead of the expiration of his current contract in just a couple of months’ time.

To date, it has remained unclear whether or not the brass at Real Madrid intend to offer the veteran midfielder a renewal.

But, one thing is for certain – Modrić wants to stay put.

As per a report from Diario AS, buoyed by his more prominent role in Carlo Ancelotti’s XI over the last week: ‘Modric, at 38 years old, wants to continue one more year in Madrid. Luka is excited to continue.’

Fully aware that he is no longer considered a guaranteed starter, the former Tottenham Hotspur standout is nevertheless ready to fight for his spot at the Santiago Bernabéu for the 2024/25 campaign.

It remains to be seen whether his wish for as much will be granted, but if his recent performances are anything to go by, it is certainly hard to argue that Modric is not deserving of a new deal.

*Update* – Madrid-based outlet Marca have since confirmed the same news: The midfielder wants to extend his contract.
