Luka Modrić’s agent has fuelled speculation he could join Inter Milan this summer by revealing the Croatian wants to play in Italy.
Modrić is said to be open to the idea of joining the Nerazzurri but with the Serie A transfer window closing this Friday, time is rapidly running out for the Italian giants to convince Real Madrid to sell.
Madrid want the 32-year-old to stay at the Bernabéu and have included him in their squad for Wednesday night’s UEFA Super Cup clash with Atlético.
However, according to Italian outlet Di Marzio, Modrić wants a change of scenery after six seasons in the Spanish capital, and Inter will keep trying to sign him right until the very last minute.
If they can’t, it seems unlikely the former Tottenham star will sign a new Los Blancos contract, meaning they will be forced to sell him next summer or risk losing him on a free transfer in June 2020.
And the World Cup Golden Ball winner’s agent says “sooner or later” he will end up following Cristiano Ronaldo to Italy.
“For whatever reason, Modrić wants to be a star in Serie A with Inter. Let’s see,” Marko Naletilić told Italian newspaper Tuttosport
“I believe that sooner or later Luka will play in Italy. Like a lot of Croatians his age, he grew up watching Italian football.
“The fact Inter Milan tried to sign him and Modrić took it into consideration shows the influence Cristiano Ronaldo is already having on Italian football.”
