Luka Modric showed no mercy to Mohamed Salah after Real Madrid beat Liverpool in last month’s Champions League final.

That’s according to Modric’s teammate Rodrygo Goes, who came on in the final minute of stoppage-time at the Stade de France.

Salah openly admitted that he wanted to face Real Madrid in order to exact revenge on the Spanish giants for the 2018 Champions League final.

The Egyptian forward was forced off injured after 31 minutes of the 2018 final in Kiev following a tangle with Sergio Ramos.

And Salah was convinced that Liverpool, who went into the final as favourites, would beat the same opponents this time around.

However, the 30-year-old was unable to prevent his side slumping to a 1-0 defeat in Paris.

Vinicius Jr scored the only goal of the game for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the 59th minute, leaving Liverpool’s players and coaching staff crestfallen at the final whistle.

What did Luka Modric say to Mohamed Salah?

And it was shortly after the final whistle that Rodrygo, hero of Madrid’s epic comeback against Manchester City in the semi-finals, heard an eyebrow-raising comment that Modric said to Salah.

Speaking to the Podpah podcast, per ESPN Brazil, Rodrygo revealed: “When the game was over, the Real Madrid players made a runner. Liverpool was passing by, Salah was going through a little sad, head down. Modric looked at him and said: ‘Thank you, Salah, next time you try again.’ I started laughing.”

Football Espana editor Alan Feehely tweeted the clip of Rodrygo speaking in Portuguese, adding: “Luka Modrić is just a killer. Rodrygo Goes says here that he told Mohamed Salah to try again next time when he passed him after winning the Champions League. Evidently all of the smack Salah was spouting pre-game didn’t go down well at Real Madrid.”

Who knew Modric was such a savage?

Per @BrasilEdition on Twitter, Rodrygo also said: “When a guy provokes, sometimes you just want to win so you can make fun of them. In training we used to say ‘come Salah, come Salah’… In our head it was already ‘we have to win to then make fun of Salah’.”

It seems that Salah’s talk of revenge was used as fuel for Real Madrid’s players to win the final.
