Serbian striker Luka Jovic is set to start for Real Madrid in place of the injured Karim Benzema when Inter face off against them in the Champions League this evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who also note that the 23-year-old still remains a potential transfer target for the Nerazzurri.

Benzema picked up a thigh injury during the first half of Real’s win over Real Sociedad in La Liga over the weekend, and he will not be in the squad for this evening’s group stage encounter.

Real coach Carlo Ancelotti is likely to select Jovic in place of the talismanic Frenchman, with the Serb having already come on for him during the match against La Real.

Jovic is a player who is reportedly admired by the Nerazzurri, having been linked with a move to the Giuseppe Meazza over the summer.

As the Gazzetta explain, Inter are still interested in the 23-year-old’s signature, and could even move for him during the January transfer window, so they will be keenly watching him if he plays.
