Despite scoring a double on his debut after first arriving from Granada, Colombian striker Luis Suárez will have been unable to impose himself at Marseille, making only 11 appearances in total and scoring only one goal after that night. After his two goals against Reims, Suárez made only three starts for Igor Tudor’s side.

The 25-year-old returned to Andalusia during the January transfer window, this time to Almería, where he has found the net 4 times and registered 5 assists in 21 appearances. With the team securing their safety on the final day of the La Liga campaign – a 3-3 draw against Espanyol being sealed with a late penalty – the permanent clause in the forward’s loan deal has now been triggered, according to L’Équipe.

The Colombian international will now remain with the Spanish side, who will pay Marseille an €8m fee – €2m less than the fee involved in his initial move to Marseille last summer.
