Former Barcelona and Atlético Madrid striker Luis Suárez is close to completing a move to Brazilian outfit Grêmio, report Mundo Deportivo.
The 35-year-old last played for his boyhood club Nacional, where he scored eight goals in 14 games and won the Uruguayan Primera División. He has been a free agent since November, however it appears as though he has found his next destination.
According to journalist César Luis Merlos, Grêmio and Suárez have already reached a verbal agreement and the signing is set to be made official in the next couple of days.
This would be new adventure for Suárez, who was tipped by many to go to the MLS after the World Cup.
The Uruguayan striker scored 198 goals for Barcelona between 2014 and 2020 and became the club’s third all-time top scorer. Suárez subsequently moved to Atlético Madrid, where he won La Liga in the 2020/21 season.
