Reports in Spain this morning are claiming that Chelsea are speaking to Luis Enrique about taking over as manager after the sacking of Graham Potter.
The former Barcelona and Spain coach is one of the few top tier options available, and clearly there’s no time to waste. He spoke last week of his desire to manage in the Premier League, and now a new opportunity has appeared at the perfect time for him.
This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. We heard from Matt Law yesterday that Enrique is on the shortlist of 5 coaches Chelsea want to speak to, and given he’s one of the ones currently not employed, it’s not surprise that both parties are keen to engage right away.
Don’t assume that just because he’s the first, he’s the favourite. There will be plenty of stories like this in the days to come as candidates make their case.
