According to Sports Zone, the Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique would like his club to sign Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães (26) in this transfer window, but any move for the player would be met with resistance.

Newcastle appears completely unwilling to enter negotiations with PSG over their midfielder, especially during the middle of the season, meaning that if a deal were to be completed between the two sides, then Les Parisiens would have to meet his release clause.

Guimarães’s release clause is reported to be £100 million, which will create another issue in a deal being completed. Luis Campos, the freelance sporting director for the French side, is far less keen than the manager on spending that amount on the player.

‘You want to keep them at the football club as long as possible’

Newcastle’s head coach, Eddie Howe, has previously commented on the rumours of the transfer by stating ‘When you are talking about your best players you want to keep them at the football club as long as possible so that is certainly our aim.’

If the former Lyon player would move back to France then he would represent a considerable loss for Newcastle. Since moving to the North of England in 2022, the Brazilian has become an essential part of Newcastle and was crucial in their efforts to clinch Champions League football last season.
