Luis de la Fuente, the Spain head coach has named his squad for the upcoming games for Denmark and Switzerland. There have been a few interesting inclusions with four Barcelona players getting the call-up – Lamine Yamal, Marc Casado, Dani Olmo and Pedri.

This is the first time that Casado has received a senior La Roja call-up. The 21-year-old midfield star has been incredible for Hansi Flick’s team so far this season. Many youngsters have been impressive for Barcelona and Pau Cubarsi is one of them.

The 17-year-old defender has been a regular starter for Hansi Flick, alongside Inigo Martinez and the duo have marshaled the backline brilliantly. However, against Red Star Belgrade, Cubarsi received a kick to his face which resulted him in receiving 10 stitches.

Luis de la Fuente has omitted Cubarsi from his Spain squad for the upcoming games and when asked about it, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo, here is what he had to say:

”He had a serious wound, with 9 stitches and very deep. We always take care of our players. Pau has to have a few days until the wound heals. We must not take any risks.”

De La Fuente’s words give more details on Cubarsi and his potential unavailability for the weekend’s clash against Real Sociedad. Barcelona might choose to rest him, just like the Spain head coach has chosen to do for the upcoming game.

The €40m-rated Barcelona player would surely be striving to return as soon as possible. If he was given the opportunity, there is every chance that he would force his way into the playing XI at the Anoeta for the all-important game.

However, Hansi Flick will surely not take risks. He will go with what Dr. Ricard Pruna and the medical team advise him to do. The German coach will want Cubarsi to be available but not at the risk of him doing further damage to himself.

It remains to be seen how Cubarsi progresses in his recovery. In his absence, Sergi Dominguez is likely to get the nod, although he hasn’t really set the stage alight in the chances that he has got so far. Let’s wait and see how things plays out.
