Luís Campos on PSG defeat to Lorient: “I’m expecting a reaction.” | OneFootball

The Ligue 1 run-in will not be a comfortable one for Paris Saint-Germain. Just as the league leaders looked to have regained form after a middling start to 2023, Lorient inflicted a third home defeat of the season on Christophe Galtier’s men, keeping Marseille and Lens’ title hopes alive for the time being.

Speaking to Canal+ at the end of the match, the club’s Sporting Advisor, Luís Campos explained that he and the rest of the team understood the supporters’ frustration, having gone into the dressing room and seen that the players were “very disappointed about the defeat”.

The Portuguese director nevertheless called on the team to react quickly to the result: “We’re top of the league, we shouldn’t lose our heads, we need to keep working to go and get the title. Everyone has to be together. I think that’s the case anyway, but it’s difficult when you lose a match like this. What I’m expecting is a reaction. That goes for everyone – players, staff, those who work every day at PSG. We need to react and get that title at the end of the season.”

Although Marseille are now back up to within five points of the Parisians, the league leaders do have a favourable run-in in which to show the reaction Campos has called for and win a record-breaking 11th Ligue 1 title. They take on four relegation candidates in Troyes, Ajaccio, Auxerre and Strasbourg, before hosting Clermont on the final day of the campaign.
