Celtic have a lot of work to do in this upcoming summer transfer window. It looks like the club are looking to strengthen in multiple positions across the pitch by making new signings if rumours are anything to go by. At the same time, it will also be important for them to keep their key players at Parkhead.
Unfortunately for Celtic, it looks like one of them already has a foot out of the door. Even Brendan Rodgers has admitted that it is likely that Greg Taylor will end up leaving the club this summer.
And it is starting to feel more likelier with every passing day. Taylor's current deal with the club is set to run out this summer.
Unfortunately for Taylor, he has found playing time hard to come by since the arrival of Jeffrey Schlupp on loan this winter. And things are going to get much tougher next season as Kieran Tierney is set to make his return to Glasgow, having already put pen to paper on a pre-contract with the Hoops.
It looks like there is no lack of interest when it comes to wanting to sign the Scottish player. As reported by the Daily Record, Dinamo Zagreb have tabled a significant increase on his current Celtic deal.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Taylor. But it does feel like he is on his way out of the club this summer.
To be honest, one can understand why that is the case. Taylor is 27 years old. At this point in his career, he would not want to sit on the bench, having spent the last several years as a starter. That would be taking a step back in what is theoretically his prime.
Taylor was signed by Celtic from Kilmarnock in the summer of 2019. Incidentally, it was the same window in which Tierney left the club.
Now, Tierney is set to return this summer while Taylor seems to be on the verge of an exit. And to be honest, the former Kilmarnock defender has exceeded most expectations during his time at Parkhead and if he does end up leaving the club in the upcoming window, the fans will wish him all the success in his next adventure.
For now, the focus to be on the remainder of the season. Taylor still has a role to play as Celtic try to win their sixth domestic treble over the past nine seasons.
