Napoli head coach Luciano Spalettti is set to leave the club this summer and take a sabbatical following their Serie A title success.

According to Sky Italia, Spalletti expressed his desire to depart from Napoli during a crucial dinner meeting held with club president Aurelio de Laurentiis two weeks ago.

Following their triumphant conquest of the Scudetto this season, he is determined to bid farewell to the club as his relationship with De Laurentiis has deteriorated.

Spalletti recently disclosed that he had not received a contract extension offer from the club.

The official announcement from the club is imminent, bringing clarity to the situation.

The decision to take a sabbatical next year stems from a specific clause in his contract.

The agreement, which expires in 2024, stipulates that if he departs during the summer, he cannot manage another team next season.

Spalletti has guided Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years. They did it while playing exciting football and were excellent offensively and defensively.

The 64-year-old ensured a safe transition from the old guard of Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens and Kalidou Koulibally.

He blooded Kim Min-jae and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as they won only their third league title in history.

This unforeseen turn of events raises questions about Spalletti’s plans. The Italian is one of the most respected and experienced managers in Italy.

Many top clubs in Italy will be eager to appoint him and there will be plenty of speculation about which of them will benefit from his tactical prowess once his sabbatical ends.

Napoli now face the daunting challenge of finding a suitable replacement for their successful leader.

With his departure imminent, the search for a new manager will commence as the club looks to sustain its recent achievements and strive for continued success.

The Partenopei are reportedly eyeing Antonio Conte, Rafa Benitez, Jurgen Klopp and Roberto De Zerbi.
