Manchester City have agreed a deal with Lucas Paqueta over a contract, according to a new report from France, as negotiations between the two clubs continue.
News of significant developments surrounding a possible deal and the ongoing negotiations between the two Premier League clubs come just moments after West Ham manager David Moyes was quizzed on the subject during a pre-match press conference.
Ahead of the return of Premier League football this weekend, the West Ham boss explained on the situation surrounding Lucas Paqueta, “We’ve had an offer from Manchester City, but it’s not anywhere near meeting our valuation.”
While Pep Guardiola remained more tight-lipped when questioned on Thursday afternoon, the latest details surrounding a possible agreement on one side of a deal has also been accompanied by a suggestion that the City coach has made personal contact with the player.
According to the information of journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, Lucas Paqueta has now agreed a six-year contract with Manchester City, while negotiations between the two clubs continue.
From the side of Manchester City, and despite a difference in valuations over the player, the Premier League champions hold ‘optimism’ when it comes to their chances of finalising a deal for the Brazilian midfielder due to the player’s ‘willingness’ to join.
Bouhafsi has also reported that City have made an offer of €85 million plus a further €10 million in bonuses to West Ham, who want €110 million without bonuses. As for Paqueta himself, it is further suggested that the player has already spoke with City boss Pep Guardiola.
There is an understanding in various quarters that Paqueta is very keen on making the move to the Etihad Stadium before the end of the summer transfer window, however it remains to be seen how much work there is still to do before the midfielder can don the Sky Blue of the club.
Deals remain ongoing elsewhere for Manchester City, as they also look to seal the future of Cole Palmer beyond the summer transfer window, with West Ham known to be one of multiple clubs interested, and particularly in a loan deal.
Palmer showcased his talents in Manchester City’s last competitive outing, as the 21-year-old winger scored in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium at Arsenal, after coming on from the substitutes bench in the second-half.
