Marca report this morning that France defender Lucas Hernandez has avoided a prison sentence after seeing his lawyers’ appeal accepted by Madrid’s provincial hearings court.

The Bayern Munich man had been summoned this month for a prison selection process, after breaking a restraining order in 2017 over an altercation with his partner. The two ignored the sentence to go on holiday together in the United States.

Hernandez had arrived in Madrid on October 18, where he was given 10 days to voluntarily enter prison. His appeal, nine days later, has now been successful. Nevertheless, the six-month prison sentence remains suspended over the next four years, as does a €94,000 fine to be paid over €400 daily instalments.
