Everton have had defender Lucas Digne’s red card against Southampton downgraded following an appeal.
The Frenchman was in danger of missing three games for a tackle on Kyle Walker-Peters’ Achilles, which was labelled a ‘joke’ by Carlo Ancelotti.
And he has been vindicated in that criticism after a successful appeal was lodged against the Toffees defender’s suspension.
An independent regulatory commission upheld Everton’s claim of ‘clearly excessive punishment’ and he will now serve just a one-game ban.
That means Digne will miss this weekend’s game against Newcastle but will be available for selection again against Manchester United.
