Lucas Digne has given some insight into his move from Barcelona to Everton during the summer transfer window.
The France international left Camp Nou after two years having played just under 30 games in all competitions as he failed to usurp Jordi Alba from the starting XI.
Having not played regularly for a couple of seasons, the 25-year-old was left out of Les Bleus squad for their successful World Cup campaign.
As such, the former Roma man looked for a move away from the Blaugrana and has revealed why he opted for the Toffees.
“Barcelona is the biggest club in the world, everybody knows that,” Digne told Sport.
“But I had a very good feeling when I spoke with (Everton’s director of football) Marcel Brands and the coach who said he wanted to play with possession.
“So I said to Barcelona ‘Please, let me leave for Everton. It is the best thing for me, for my career.’
“Deschamps said I hadn’t played enough games for Barcelona last season to go to the World Cup.”
